Willy Freeman vs. Chloe Sanders

What if your life depended on you? What if your family’s lives counted on you? What if you were the one causing someone in your family to die. In the stories The Awakening and War Comes to Willy Freeman the main characters deal with this. The more they mess up, the more their family gets in danger. This is why these two characters have so much in common, even though the two teenagers live completely different lives.

Chloe is a girl, who everyone suspects to be crazy. But really, she’s not. Willy is just a girl, where everyone underestimates her. They both are so much alike and have major problems in life. Adults don’t respect them ever, and they never have a chance to be the kid. These characters are always the ones taking action in life, when their parents really should. Both characters need to stand up for themselves, and be the kids they’re meant to be. They both are pretty brave to run away from danger, and walk into some more.

A very bad habit that Chloe and Willy have is that they both run away from their problems. They don’t think that they should fix their problems that they made, until after they do something. These girls need to think ahead and look into the future, and think of what problems they will cause. Or what trouble they could get into. But they don’t care; they just go with the flow, which they really need to change.

Obviously Chloe and Willy have differences. One of them lives in a mental home, and the other is living in a war zone. If you put aside their surroundings, and look at how they act, they are still pretty different. Willy is just really selfish, only trying to fit her needs. She doesn’t care if what she does is going to hurt other people, which is horrible. Chloe, on the other hand, is wonderful and risks her life to save others. She never gives up and probably a better person than Willy, seeing that she cares for others and not only herself.

Both these girls live completely different lives. Even though they’re in different books, they have different personalities, and live in completely different areas, doesn’t mean they’re only different. They could also be alike. If you take two people and compare them, let’s say a bully that lives in Kansas and a nice kid in Australia, they probably have something in common, aside from the way they look. There is such thing as being unique, but other people might be just as unique as you.
