Sane...Or Insane?

Have you ever asked yourself you were crazy? Or insane? Well the character the short story, Tell Tale Heart, never would think of asking themselves that question, even though the person killed an old man, and chopped him to pieces; just because the man had an annoying eye. Many people were probably annoyed with his eye, but he didn’t have to kill him! In some people’s perspective, he could be normal, not too insane, but in my opinion he’s totally crazy and needs some help.


Some people could think this character isn’t too insane, and I can get why. They could think that this person just gets paranoid really easy, or had a bad childhood or something. But it doesn’t make up for it. If people have bad lives when they’re little, it doesn’t mean they should go around killing people. If everyone died because of how they looked or because there was something wrong with them, we wouldn’t get anywhere in life; there would be no one left on Earth. Nobody’s perfect. Especially not the crazy guy from the story.


Now, you probably see where I’m coming from when I said he’s insane, because he truly is. For a whole week, every night at midnight he would sneak into the old man’s house, take an hour to get his head through the door, and see if the old man’s eye was open. He really wanted to kill the man, and he was pretty clever. When actually killed the man, he cut him up in the bath tub, so there would be no trace of the old man dying, and then he hid him in the floor boards. Another reason why I think he’s crazy is that he killed the man by suffocating him, with a mattress, and then cut him up. Why did he cut him up if he was already dead? It didn’t make any sense to me, and it would be easier to find the body, because there had to be some trail of blood. The craziest thing of all was that the man didn’t dislike the old man, he only killed him because of his eye. It always bugged him.


Crazy, insane, mental, wacko, these are all words that describe the character in the story. He has issues, and he really needs to fix them. Some people may have anger issues, and those issues need to go. People need to stand up for themselves if they know a person with anger issues, and fight back. Like the man, he heard the guy sneaking in his house, but he didn’t get up and run away, or smack with something. He just lay there, until he got killed. So technically, the old man was crazy, too. He knew it was coming sooner or later. He just didn’t want to admit it, but either way the other guy is completely insane and that will never change.
